It is with love and sadness that the family of Winona B. Sears (Winnie) announces her passing at the age of 92.

Born on July 17, 1933, in Point de Bute, New Brunswick, Winona spent her early years surrounded by the forests, fields, and streams she would cherish throughout her life.

She lived in Sackville, NB, then moved to Lakeburn in the late 1960s.Winona found her greatest happiness outdoors. Whether she was casting a fishing line into a quiet stream, picking wild berries, searching for mushrooms, or keeping an eye out for spruce gum, wintergreen berries, and mayflower along the trail, she appreciated the simple gifts that nature had to offer. She knew the woods well and found peace in every season.

At home, Winona had a special place in her heart for animals. Her cats and dogs were more than pets—they were family and faithful companions. She also enjoyed gardening and took pride in growing flowers and houseplants that brought life and color into her home.

Those who knew Winona will remember her as a woman with determination and spirit. She was never one to back down from a challenge or a good scrap when she believed she was right. She was resilient, independent, and fiercely protective of the people and things she loved.

The accompanying photograph captures the journey of a remarkable life, one showing Winnie as a younger woman looking toward the future, and the other reflecting a lifetime later, still standing beside the water and woods she loved so dearly. Together, they tell the story of a woman whose connection to nature remained constant throughout her life.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her son Leo Paul Hachey, daughter Judy Robinson, son-in-law Alton, grandchildren Samantha, Chad, Alex, and Cody, and great-granddaughters Matilda and Darla, as well as her remaining siblings Edith and Reginald.

She was predeceased by her spouse Leo Hachey; her parents, Lorne and Maude Sears; her sisters, Shirley, Nora, and Marie; and her brothers, Gerald, Cedric, and Laurie.

Winona's memory will live on in the quiet streams, forest trails, blooming gardens, and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Forever remembered.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300).  A graveside service will be held in the Midgic Cemetery at a later date.
