It is with deep sadness, and heavy
hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Richard
Joseph Gerard LeBlanc, aged 79, who passed in his home
on June 26th, 2026.
Richard was a wonderful man. A dedicated
husband, a loving family man, and a caring friend to anyone who needed
one.
Richard was born at home, in St.
André in 1947. He was the son of the late O'Neil LeBlanc
and Dorice (Cormier) LeBlanc of Port Elgin.
He had a fulfilling 35 year career with
Irving Oil Ltd., starting out with welding, and ending with being a
Construction Supervisor.
After retirement from Irving at age 53,
he continued being a hard-working man, by becoming an inspector at
different local wharfs for the next few
years.
Richard had a passion for duck hunting
with his trusty Black Lab, Lady. He farmed Hereford cattle and owned a
piggery at one time. He loved horse racing, and you would often see
him at Standardbred racing tracks all over the
Maritimes.
Although he was not a father of
biological children, he raised, loved, and mentored many young
relatives, including a special great-niece, Kaitlyn Broughm whom he
helped raise.
Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased
by his brother Gerald LeBlanc in 1993.
Richard is survived by his wife, Debby
(Larsen) LeBlanc, his brother Jean (Gail) LeBlanc of Kingston,
Ontario, his sister Marie (Bryce) Davis of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and
many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
