It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Marcel Albert Cormier, age 51, of Port Elgin, NB.  Marcel passed peacefully at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital with his family by his side after his courageous battle with cancer.

Marcel was a man of few words, with a laid back nature and a heart of gold.  He could fix or build just about anything and was always lending a helping hand wherever he could.

Marcel was a worker, never missing any time if he didn't have to.  He loved his job, having had many over the years but was best known as a door technician with Royal Door for 16 years.  After leaving Royal Door, he worked for Economy Glass for the last 14 months as a service manager.  He enjoyed the people he worked with and the job allowed him to be home more with his family , all while working throughout his treatments.

The one thing that was most important to Marcel was his family.  He loved spending time with them be it for family suppers, bonfires or a game of cards.  His three children is what he lived for and his greatest achievements.  He loved being a dad.

When he wasn't working, Marcel could be found volunteering his time as a hockey coach.  Coaching all three kids throughout the years.  He loved the rink, watching his kids play, being part of Sackville Minor Hockey and standing on that bench coaching his team to the bitter end.

If he wasn't at the rink, he could be found volunteering his time for the Strait Shores Fire Department; going to every call he could, dropping everything he was doing just to get there.  From training to suppers to barbecues, he spent many hours helping out where he could.

Marcel will be greatly missed by his wife, Kelly; his three children, Cody, Isaac, and Addison; his parents, Donald and Julia; his brothers Daniel (April Lynn) and Gilles (Amanda); his nephews, Jordan, Jonathan, Noah, Caleb and Colby and his nieces, Olivia and Emily.  He will also be missed by his sister-in-law, Tracey (Scott) Phinney; brothers-in-law, Kevin Tower and Timothy Tower, his in-laws, David and Janet Tower, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Marcel was predeceased by his son, Joshua Cormier; his maternal grandparents, Julien (Anita) Cormier and paternal grandparents Albert (Yvonne) Cormier.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Homes, Port Elgin and Sackville, NB.  Visiting hours will be held from their Port Elgin location, 3 W Main Street, on Monday, June 8, 2026 from 6-8 pm.  A funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday, June 9 at 2 pm, Pastor Brian Bourque officiating.

Donations in memory of Marcel can be made to Sackville Minor Hockey, the Strait Shores Fire Department, or a charity of one's choice.

Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the online memorial at www.jonesfuneralhome.ca or through the Jones Funeral Home Facebook Page.
