It is with deep sadness we announce the
passing of Matilda Florence Flemming, age
93, of Port Elgin, NB. Florence passed away on Sunday, March
8, 2026 at the Moncton Hospital, surrounded by loving
family.
Born in Little Shemogue, NB, she was a
daughter of the late Arthur and Vara (Bennett) Goodwin.
Florence was a member of the Port Elgin
Presbyterian Church for many years and was active in the WMS at the
Church as well as teaching Sunday School. She was a Cub and
Scout Leader, an avid quilter and enjoyed sewing and
knitting. In later years, it gave her great joy to share her
gift of knitting with mittens for school children, baby hats for the
IWK, and knitted hats, mittens and socks for Moncton
Headstart.
She will be sadly missed by children
Betty Jones, Nancy (John) Elaschuk, Shirley (Roy) Baillieul, Susan
(Gary) Dobson, Danny (Cynthia) Flemming, and Dorothy (Timothy) Harvey;
several grandchildren, and great grandchildren; as well as several
nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband John;
son in law David Jones and grandson Adam Elaschuk. The last
surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by
sisters Mabel Brown, Mae Spence, Nellie Peacock, Evelyn Estabrooks,
and Dorothy Allen and brothers Hanson and Eldon.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the
Jones Funeral Home, from their 3 West
Main St, Port Elgin, NB location (506-364-1300) where visiting hours
will take place on Friday from Noon until 2 PM, followed immediately
by her funeral service at 2 PM, Rev. Steve Berube
officiating. Burial will take place in the Baie Verte
Cemetery in the spring.

Hospital.
