It is with sadness that we announce the
passing of Bernard Vincent Bourgeois, age
103, of Riverview, formerly of Dorchester, NB. Bernard passed away on
Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Grass Home in Riverview.
Born in Joggins, NS, he was a son of the
late James and Mary (DesBarres) Bourgeois.
Bernard served with the
R.C.A.F. overseas during WWII. He worked as a Corrections officer
until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the National
Association of Federal Retirees. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas
Roman Catholic Church. Bernard was a life member of the Royal Canadian
Legion Dorchester Branch #16 and a life member of the Knights of
Columbus Moncton Branch # 1310.
Bernard is survived by; daughters Susan
(David) Delaney, Riverview, NB, Trudy Bourgeois, Riverview, NB, and
Joanne Bourgeois, Flat River, PEI; son, Ritchie (Barbara), Daytona
Beach, FL; grandchildren, Tammy Jo, Wayne, and Lisa; great
grandchildren Cassidy, Keilyn, Quinn, and Parker; two great great
grandchildren; niece Hazel Mitton, Riverview, NB.
Besides his parents he was predeceased
by his wife, the former Gloria MacAleese; daughter Cindy Hutchinson;
sister Mabel Bourgeois; brothers Basil, Leo, and
Garnet.
Arrangements are under the care of
Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street,
Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) where a Liturgy of the Word will be held
on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 2 PM with Deacon Frank Quinn
officiating, followed by burial in the St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery,
known to Bernard as the Ragged Reef Cemetery.
Bernard's family wishes to extend their
heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Grass Home for all their love and
care during his stay, especially during his final days.
