It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dianne Sharon Copp (née MacDonald), age 82, on July 5, 2025, at her winter home in Sosua, Dominican Republic.

Born on June 1, 1943, in Mimico, Ontario, she was the daughter of well-known Maritime author and humourist Andy MacDonald and Rhoda MacDonald.

Dianne is survived by her husband Frank, her sons David (Woojung) and Michael (Jennifer), and her granddaughter Mireille.

A cherished wife, mother, writer, and adventurer, she dedicated her life to love, family, and passions that brought her immense joy.  Her warmth, creativity, and zeal will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

Dianne’s unwavering support and devotion enabled her husband to pursue his Engineering degree, exemplifying her selflessness and commitment to her loved ones.  A talented writer and editor, she contributed her literary talents by editing five of her father’s books, enriching their legacy with her keen eye and thoughtful insight.

A true lover of the sun and warmth, and especially the Dominican people, Dianne spent her last two decades living her dream life in the Dominican Republic, six months of the year in Sosua, and six months in Port Elgin, NB.  These times were spent enjoying life with her husband and her border collies.  Her adventurous spirit and zest for life inspired all who knew her.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.

Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the online memorial at www.jonesfuneralhome.ca or through the Jones Funeral Home Facebook Page.
