It is with sadness we announce the death of Richard Coneen Trites, age 91 of Sackville, New Brunswick on Monday August 5, 2024.

Richard joins his wife of 65 years, Margaret Doreen (Furlong) Trites, and leaves behind his four children, Dr. Todd (Dr.Shirin Nooravi), NewPort Beach CA, Dr. Lary (Kathleen Brown) Sackville, NB, Bonnie (Stephen Beal), Waterloo, ON, and Dr. Brian (Amy Gorham) Fredericton NB; as well as eleven grandchildren Robie, Alex, Josh, Julielle, Hannah, Alexa, Emily, Aiden, Nicole, Ally and Cody and one great grandchild, River.

Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Richard leaves behind his sister Harriet Smith in his immediate Trites family, being predeceased by his parents Frank and Helen (Dryden) Trites, as well as, two sisters Jean (Moody) and Nora (Murray). 

Richard also has three grand dogs, which loved being around him, Richard will miss Claire (Golden Doodle), Dozer and Otis (French-bulldogs).

Richard was a family man, his kids and family were everything, spending time with them at his Amherst Shore cottage, helping out at our Folly Lake Maple Sugarwoods, and Brookdale camp. Dick was also an active Shriner for over 33 years and served on the local board of Directors for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Sackville, NB. The Lewisville Baptist Church holds a  special spiritual connection for Richard throughout his  life. He talked with great joy of his many memories with Margaret and many friends at Gulfview, Florida and California.

Richard worked passionately in the grocery industry managing many Dominion and Save-Easy Supermarkets reaching to the position of Director of Retail Operations for the Atlantic Wholesalers based in Sackville, N.B.  Richard then kept active by working with all his children in getting their professional practices up and running and maintained a significant role in the maintenance of their businesses . 

Richard (Dick) also known as ‘Big Papa Cool’ loved his grandchildren and helped out his four children with being a big part of all their lives supporting them with love by attending hockey games, track meets, soccer, curling, music recitals and forever playing cards and board games. 

Dad, Papa, Richard (Dick) will be forever missed by his children.  "May you and mum go hand in hand, like we alway remember" Best Parents Ever.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300).  An Afternoon of Remembrance will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, Sackville on Sunday August 11, 2024 from 2 to 4 PM, followed by his graveside service in the Lakeville Cemetery.
