It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Cecil James (Jim) Hicks, who left us on July 28, 2024 at the age of 72.
Born on December 14, 1951, in Sackville, NB, Jim was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, son, and friend, who touched the lives of many with his creativity, humour, and unwavering optimism.
Throughout his life, Jim was known for his entrepreneurial spirit, passion for invention, knack for creative problem solving and strong ability to build things – whether it be with wood, mechanics, boating upholstery, or relationships. Having lived on both the east and west coasts of Canada, he found joy in playing pool with friends, spending time on the ocean, making music with his guitar, enjoying nature, and he cherished the moments shared with those close to him.
Predeceased by his parents, Cecil Hicks and Constance MacNeill; his son, Michael Murray; and his brother-in-law Gary Morice. Jim is survived by his children, Meredith (Darin Jess) Campbell-Jess, Melissa (Craig Hamlin) Murray, Nicala (Dennis) Stacey, Natasha Sadoway, and Myka LaFrance; his siblings, Sharon (Percy Best) Hicks, Sylvia Morice, and Les (Faye) Hicks; his grandchildren, Stacey (Tom), Jordan, Sachi, Maiya, Ella, Finn, Madison, and Logan; his four great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be missed by all who knew him and whose lives he touched.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300). In lieu of a formal service, the family requests that those who wish to honour Jim's memory consider sharing a favorite story or memory of him, as we know there are many stories of his adventures and escapades.
Sharing of condolences and memories may be sent to the family by visiting the online memorial at www.jonesfuneralhome.ca or through the Jones Funeral Home's Facebook Page.
Jim's legacy of love and adventure will forever remain in our hearts.
