It is with great sadness that the family
of Vivian Weir, 92, Sackville, NB
announce her passing on July 19th, 2024 at the Briarlea, Gorge Road,
Moncton NB.
Born in Halifax NS, she was the daughter
of the late George and Annie (McDonald) Thorne.
Vivian went to work at a very early age,
her first job was working at the TB Hospital in Halifax. She then went
on to be a Telephone Operator but was required to give up her job when
she married, as married women were not allowed to work as an operator.
She married the late Otto Weir in Halifax on December 21st, (the
longest night of the year) 1950.
Around 1958 they moved to Sackville, NB
and remained there for many years. She worked at the Drew Nursing home
for 25 years, having a great love for all the residents, and in
return, the residents and her co-workers loved
her.
She attended Main Street Baptist Church
and was involved in numerous aspects within it. She was a member of
the Monday night prayer meetings, Tuesday Choir, worked in the
nursery, taught Sunday School and pioneer girls, and was always the
first to be in the kitchen when needed. She loved God and her Church
family with whom she made many road trips.
Vivian loved spending time with her
family and friends. Each year she would go to Boston and Florida with
her sister and cousin, who we all called the Golden girls, because
they looked just like them.
She will be sadly missed by her
children, Donald (Loretta) Weir, Sackville, Cathy (David Lockhart),
Moncton, and David (Charlotte) Weir, Sackville; son-in law, Sam
Anderson; grandchildren, Jason Weir, Erin Allen, Jillian Anderson,
Mitchell Lockhart and Ben Weir; great grandchildren, Emma, Grace and
Rowen as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Otto;
her daughter, Janice Anderson; her sister Sadie; her brother Jim; her
sisters-in-law, Elizabeth, Mildred, Bertha, Jean, and Peggy, and her
brothers-in-law; Joseph, Garnet, Fred, Jack, Fred and
Jim.
Vivan has spent the last 7 years at the
Briarlea Gorge Road and we wish to take a moment to thank all staff
for the exemplary care provided to her through this time; they are her
extended family and will miss her as much as we will.
Mom, was our guiding light, our rock,
and our hearts are broken. The pain of losing you is immeasurable, but
the love and memories we shared give us strength to carry on. Even
though she is gone, her presence will always be with us because we are
a product of her kindness, love, humility, compassion and
faith.
Arrangements are under the care and
