Louis Leslie "Lou" Lambe, age 87, passed away at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Monday, July 15, 2024.
Born in East Fraserville, NS, he was the only child of Harold an Ethel (Crossman) Lamb.
Lou graduated from Parrsboro High School and entered the Royal Bank in Amherst, NS, where he met and married his wife Ruth (Foster).
Lou spent his entire career with Financial Institutions in Amherst, Moncton, Ottawa, Montreal, Fredericton, Sussex, Dartmouth, and finally retiring in Sackville, NB.
Lou will be deeply missed by his wife Ruth, sister in laws Helen Foster, Amherst, NS; Eunice Smith, Sackville, NB, and Gloria (Austin) Beal, Sackville, NB; very special nephews Randy Beal, Keith, Kevin, and Darren Foster; much loved nieces Tammy Beal-Stillman, and Cindy Crossman; dearly loved great nieces and nephews Brennen and Zachary Beal, Kalli Matthews and MacKenzie Stillman, Ethan and Anna Crossman, Andrew and Aiden Foster, Josh and Luke Foster, Jake and Kerr Foster; great great nieces and nephews Flora and Forest Beal, Tate and Thea Beal and Charlie Foster.
Besides his parents, Lou was predeceased by much loved in-laws Edward and Marie Foster and brother in laws Art (Sonny) Foster and Dave Smith.
Lou was actively involved in community work and served as treasurer for many organizations. He belonged to the Kiwanis Club for 20 years and was awarded the Mel Osborne Award and was a Recipient of the Paul Harris Award from the Rotary Club. He was the Sackville Citizen of the year 2009, the Sussex, NB Citizen of the year 1997. He volunteered for 20 years with the Boy Scouts of Canada, the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal, he was Chairman and member of the Sussex Health Centre Board, Chairperson of the Relay for Life, Member of the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Saint John Ambulance. He was involved with local schools fun outings, library and flouride.
When not involved with community work, he enjoyed golfing, gardening and reading.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, Sackville, NB (506-364-1300). Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family internment will be held at the Christ Church Cemetery, Amherst, NS.
