It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Robert A. Trenholm, of Port Elgin.  Bobby passed away at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Monday, April 29, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Port Elgin, he was a son of the late Alton and Delilah (Larson) Trenholm.

Bobby's vigor for life was matched only by his output. Bobby worked the majority of his life as a lobster fisherman on a variety of fishing boats, one of which he built himself. In his later years, these memories of the sea were important to him; and he spent a lot of time admiring the water and spending time by the ocean.  He was the last surviving member of the original Port Elgin volunteer fire department; and worked several years as a volunteer ambulance driver. Not a stranger to odd jobs, Bobby was known as the one to call if something needed to be done in Port Elgin.

He often enjoyed lively get-to-gethers with friends and family where guests would dance accompanied by the fiddle, as well as Christmas day dinners hosted by Linda and himself. Bobby had a number of hobbies from wood working, fishing, bird-feeding, tending to stray animals on his property, camping in his RV with his late-wife Linda along the water and enjoying evenings listening to the radio. He also rooted for the Maple Leafs; even when they let him down. His enormous heart and his independence allowed Bobby to live a long life on his own terms, something he relished.

The family would like to thank Laura Hewitt, Tina Wall, as well as the team at Extra Mural for providing him with the care that allowed him to live in the home he loved. We would also like to thank Dr. Stewart and the entire staff of the Sackville Memorial Hospital for the care and comfort provided for dad and his family during his recent stay.

He will be dearly missed by his daughters Roberta (Peter) Copp, Irishtown, NB, Nerie Allen, Port Elgin, Robynn (Donald) Polley, Upper Cape, Deanna (Chris) Fillmore, Moncton, Leanne Trenholm (Mike Allain), Moncton; their mother Sheila Landry, Port Elgin; grandchildren Tricia, Andrew, Nathan, Cody, Kelsie, Brooke, Brandon, Jordan; great grandchildren Noah, Nadia, Rayelle, Presley, Layton, and Avery; sister in law Lillian Trenholm, Port Elgin.

He was predeceased by his wife Linda (Haley) Trenholm; daughter in infancy Bridgette; great grandaughter Chasity; siblings Donald, Helen Burke, Ralph, and Dewey.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin and Sackville, NB.  All services will be held from the Port Elgin location, 3 West Main St., (506-364-1300) where visiting hours will be held from 1 pm until the time of the funeral at 2 pm on Friday, May 3, 2024.  A private family burial will take place in the Fernwood Cemetery following the funeral.

Donations in his memory may be made to The Moncton SPCA - PAW, CA-R-MA Sackville, or any animal rescue.

Sharing of memories and condolences may also be sent to the family by visiting the online memorial at www.jonesfuneralhome.ca or through the Jones Funeral Home Facebook Page.
