Ronald William Wheeler passed away at home on March 5, 2024 at the age of 68, succumbing to complications of ongoing health issues. 

Ron was born on April 28, 1955 in Sackville NB, the son of Beryl (Faulkner) Wheeler and William Wheeler (deceased). He grew up in Sackville and enjoyed many shenanigans with his friends and cousins at home, and in Upper Economy. Fishing, playing cards and causing general mayhem over the years. Ron faced great challenges in learning how to live and thrive after he fell from a tree and broke his neck at age 21. He went to St Mary’s University and received his Bachelor of Arts, and went on to be employed as a vocational counsellor at the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre in Halifax. Ron’s great passion was Quadrugby and he spent many hours playing and developing the sport in Nova Scotia, in partnership with the Canadian Wheelchair Sports Association. Ron married Sandra in 1984 and together they raised their three beautiful children in Dartmouth, NS.

He leaves behind his wife, Sandra (nee Ward); his children, Emily MacKenzie; Peter Wheeler (Christina); Carly Francis (Ryan). Grandchildren, Alexander and Jacob MacKenzie; Rose, Abram and Isla Wheeler; Audrey and Jasmine Francis. Also is survived by his mother, Beryl Wheeler, Port Elgin, NB; his siblings  Duane (Marg) Wheeler, Kitchener, Ont; Sally Smith, Sackville, NB; Cheryl Anderson, Saskatoon, Sask; Donna Johnson, Sackville, NB; MJ Wheeler, Vancouver, BC; Trish DesJardins, Sackville, NB; Dan (Dale Betts) Wheeler, Belleville, Ont. Ron has many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He leaves behind his best friends Rick Estabrooks, Michael Brown, and Leslie Hicks who were with him through it all.

A Celebration of Life was held on March 23 at 11:00am at Hillside Wesleyan Church, 80 Chameau Crescent, Cole Harbour, NS. 

A graveside service and committal will be held on Friday May 31, 2024 at 11 am at the Sackville Cemetery.

Burial arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville NB (506) 364-1300. Please check back this spring for information.
