It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Johan Heinrich "Hank" Hendrikson, 92, of Sackville and formerly of Dorchester, NB at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 3, 2024.

Born in Slagharen, Holland on November 1, 1931, Hank was a son of the late Jans and Maria (Heitbrink) Hendrikson.

Hank had been a very active member of St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church, and as well at St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church, Sackville.  He loved gardening together with his beloved wife, Annie.  He enjoyed being in the outdoors hunting and fishing as well as traveling with Annie.  He was also an avid and competitive game player, cribbage, bridge and scrabble were among his favourites

Hank had begun working at the Dorchester Penitentiary in January of 1967, retiring as Assistant Farm Manager, in March of 1990.

Hank adored his family and spending quality time with them, and was always up for any type of family reunion or gathering.  

He will be sadly missed by his wife Annie, Sackville; his son Jack (Debbie), Dorchester; his step-granddaughter Jamie (Ian) Trenholm; two great granddaughters, Scarlett and Lila-Mae; as well as several nieces and nephews.  

Hank was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB (506-364-1300). In keeping with Hank's wishes, there will be no visitation.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 2 pm.  Interment will take place in St. Edward's Catholic Cemetery, Dorchester in the spring.
