Doreen Ash (Taylor) passed away peacefully on January 1st 2024, after a short illness. She was born on October 3, 1935 and was 88 years old. She was much loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Doreen was born in Montreal to Ethel and Jack Taylor, and in between raising her two children, was a lifelong teacher. She lived in Montreal, Winnipeg, Sherbrooke, Sackville, Ottawa, and Rothesay, where she and her husband, Brian Ash, taught at Rothesay Netherwood School (RNS). She and Brian were long time residents of Sackville, NB, where they have many friends and played a large role in the community. She also had a special place in her heart for her family cottage and community in Knowlton, Quebec, where she and her family spent many happy summers.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Brian and sister Norma Bashaw.
She is survived by her brother Ken (Jan) Taylor; daughter Susan Ash, Waterford NB, son Robert (Mary Beth) Ash of Saint John, NB, and their children, Brian Christopher Ash, Sarah (Andy) Lilly, Keith Messer, Dennis (Sara) Messer. She is also survived by her great granddaughter, Mika Lilly and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Doreen's family wish to extend heartfelt thanks to all the staff and care workers of Tucker Hall in Saint John who cared for their mother the last couple of years.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB (506-364-1300). Honouring Doreen's wishes, there will be no services at this time.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Nature Conservancy of Canada would be appreciated.
