It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dean William Scopie, 93, of Coburg, NB on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital.  Dean was born in River Hebert, NS, a son of the late Michael and Isabel (Poplar) Scopie.

Dean was a hard and dedicated worker.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed a good meal. He loved music, in particular fiddle music and watching sports, his favourite teams being the Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs.

Looking back on the highlights of his life, Dean had no regrets and felt he had accomplished most everything he set out to do.  He had been in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1951-1956, following that he worked in the woods, worked as a fisherman and as a foreman during Fort Beausejour's reconstruction and finally with Irving Oil up until his retirement.

Dean will be dearly missed by his daughters, Sadie Brine, Riverview, Sharon (Joe Leger) LeBlanc, Cap-Pele, Sylvia Scopie, Port Elgin, and Susan Brooks, Calgary; 18 grandchildren, Tracy, Tanya, Kevin, Jodie, Amanda, Jillian, Randy, Nicole, Dean, Chandra, Tina, Chad, Michelle, Bonnie, Victor, Bernice, Dean and Douglas; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; step children, Darren, Wayne, and Tammy and their children; his siblings, June Porter, Annmarie Gray, and David (Monica) Scopie, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents Dean was predeceased by his wife, Helen (Lucci); his sons, Dean William, William Dean, and Michael Frank; his daughter, Sandra Jean Earle; his grandson Dean and his great grandchildren Frankie, Elizabeth, and Bryanna, as well as his common-law partner of 31 years, Lorna Biddle.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Homes, Port Elgin and Sackville, NB (506) 364-1300.  A time of visitation will be held from their Port Elgin location, (3 W. Main Street), on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 12 pm until the time of the funeral service at 2 pm, Rev. Carolyn Rushton presiding.

Donations in Dean's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.

Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the online memorial at or through the Jones Funeral Home Facebook Page.
