With hurting hearts we announce the peaceful death of (Mary) Wendy Jean Daly of Murray Harbour, PEI, (formerly of Dorchester, NB) on Monday, November 27, at the Kings County Memorial Hospital in Montague, PEI, after a brief illness.

Wendy was the first born child of Edwin (Ted) and Helen Allen, Malden, NB, on September 22, 1941. After graduating from high school in 1959, she went directly to work at Social Services in Dorchester.  It was in Dorchester where she met and married her husband, Richard (Dick) Daly, and raised two children.  She continued to work as an Income Assistance Officer for the New Brunswick Department of Social Development for the next 34 years until her retirement.  After her work with the Government of NB ended, she became a caregiver to several seniors in Dorchester and Sackville, including her mother-in-law, Mrs. Lucy Daly.  Wendy was well established and involved in the Dorchester community as a volunteer with several organizations.

In 2005 Wendy took a leap of faith to make the move to Murray Harbour; however, she soon became active in the church and other organizations and made many friends in the community and loved it!   Wendy thoroughly enjoyed her card games and outings with friends along with the many activities in which she took part.

Wendy is survived by her son, Martin, Moncton; her sisters, Carolyn Wood, Port Elgin; Margaret (Alden) Geldart, Lewis Mountain; Velvet (Brian) Allen-Burns, Upper Cape; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Dayna; her only brother, Edward; two sisters, Della and Beverlee, as well as her parents..

Wendy’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nursing staff, and all staff of the Kings County Memorial Hospital in Montague for providing the care that she deserved during her stays there over the years.  Please know that your professional kindness was always deeply appreciated!

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Homes, Sackville and Port Elgin.  A time of visitation with light refreshments will be held from their Port Elgin location, 3 W. Main St, Port Elgin, NB (506-364-1300)  on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 11 am until the time of the funeral service at 1 pm.  Burial in the Bayfield Cemetery in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, The Dorchester Food Bank or the Kings County Memorial Hospital Foundation, Montague, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Sharing of memories or condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the online memorial at www.jonesfuneralhome.ca or through the Jones Funeral Home Facebook Page.
