The family of Harry Charles Wood of Shediac NB, formerly of Wood Point, NB, announce his passing on October 28, 2023 at the Moncton City Hospital.

He was the son of Earl and Janie Wood born on November 8, 1943.

Harry loved gardening, hunting, fishing and camping. Over the years, he enjoyed taking the kids tenting, teaching them all the skills needed to be a good camper. There was lots of swinging in the hammock, ATV rides, games of checkers (which he usually won), and his famous "Fly away Jack" trick.

He was employed for 36 years on the ground crew of Mount Allison University.

Harry is survived by his wife Sharon (nee Wheaton); his son, Rodney Wood (Charline); his daughter Natalie Mountford (Carl); his grandson, Gabriel Vautour (Emilie); his granddaughters, Isabelle Wood, Olivia Mountford, and Lauren Mountford; his sisters, Helen Holtzer, Sandra Vogel, Carol Ann Hicks (Arnold), Debbie Sandwith (Royden); his brothers, John Wood (Lois), Robert Wood (Eva), and Ricky Wood, as well as special nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Harry was predeceased by his sisters Betty Green, Delores Robinson, Kathleen Atkinson, Joyce Stokes, as well as his brothers Donald, Richard, and Rupert.

He will be remembered by a large extended family, groups of coworkers and friends who meant so much to him.

Harry's family wants to thank Dr. Graeme Stewart, Extra Mural Shediac Team, and the many doctors, nurses and staff of the Moncton City Hospital for their great care and support. Harry was so grateful to all.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB (506-364-1300).  An afternoon of remembrance for Harry will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 1-3 pm with special words to be spoken at 2 pm.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Wood Point Baptist Church or the Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
