It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Courtney Lawrence Walton (Larry) at the age of 82. Larry passed away peacefully at the Drew Nursing Home on Monday October 16, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and the caring staff of the Drew Nursing Home.

Born in Little Shemogue, New Brunswick, Larry was a loyal and dedicated son, brother, husband, uncle, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. At the young age of fourteen, Larry developed a passion for fishing. He would later build his own fishing boats, ‘Heather and Girls’ and the ‘Laze C’ on which he had a wonderful career as a lobster fisherman.  His two daughters, fondly known as ‘Larry’s Boys’ around the wharf, had the joy of working alongside their father, learning firsthand how to work hard, and always have fun along the way.  A motto Larry carried throughout his life.

Larry’s family and friends will cherish his zest for life. His diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease did not define him. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, music, and carpentry. He was a skilled skater and played hockey with the Murray Corner Honkers as a young man. Forever a sweet tooth, you could always find him making his daily trip to the Lake’s General Store to enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation with the locals or grab an ice-cream cone with his grandchildren.

Larry will be remembered for his kind and gentle demeanor, his innate sense of humor, his undying love of the Toronto Maple Leafs, his strength and perseverance, and his unwavering love.

Larry will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Heather (Knowles) Walton, Sackville; children Angela Walton (Chris Tracy), of Saint John, Lana (Peter) Ward, of Sackville; his 5 grandchildren, Courtney (Jonathan) Smith, Zachary Silas, Emily (Ryan) McNeill, Colby Ward (Eden Lunn) and Molli Ward; 2 great grandchildren, Clara and Gabriel Smith; siblings, Rodney (Marilyn) Walton, Lillian Trenholm, Ivan (Sue) Walton, Janet (Arden) Trenholm, Carolyn (Neil) Allen; brothers-in-law, Derek (Lorraine) Knowles, Michael Knowles, and Kevin (Lynn) Knowles, as well as many nieces and nephews; and his lifelong friend, Gary Allen.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, Courtney and Clara (Stright), his sister Cheryl Walton, and his brother-in-law Dewey Trenholm.

Our family would like to thank the Drew Nursing Home for the exceptional care that was provided to Larry during his time there, as well as the loving care given to our family throughout his stay, and especially the moments before his passing.

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB (506-364-1300).  Honouring Larry's wishes, cremation has taken place and there are to be no services at this time.

For those who wish to do so, donations in Larry's memory may be made to the Drew Nursing Home, Parkinson Canada or a charity of the donor's choice.

Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the online memorial at www.jonesfuneralhome.ca or through the Jones Funeral Home Facebook Page.
