With broken hearts his family announces that, David Wayne Estabrooks, 75, of Sackville, NB, passed away at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on September 22, 2023.

David was born in Sackville, son of the late Everett and Lina Estabrooks.

Dave enjoyed everything sports related. Growing up he played hockey and baseball. He also enjoyed coaching his son's hockey teams and umpiring at the local baseball fields in the summer. He played for the Sackville Combines and the Amherst Ramblers Hockey Teams. He was a man of few words but was always up for a chat about last nights' game. He was a die-hard Montreal Canadians fan but did not brag about that often. He enjoyed spending time outside, fishing, picking fiddleheads, mushroom foraging, and taking in the sun at the beach.

Dave worked as a Labourer for the Town of Sackville for over 30 years and retired in 2016. He then filled his days with long drives, coffee time with friends, and following his grandson all over the province for football. Saturdays were for cheering on the Mountie football team and Saturday nights were spent at the rink watching the Ramblers.

David will be missed by his two children; Alison L. Estabrooks, Sackville; Darren M. Estabrooks, Moncton; their mother, Patricia (Bill) Drysdale; grandchildren, Dylan and Felicity; brother, Everett (Pat) Estabrooks; his special niece, Patti (Dale) Sears; sister-in-law Melanie (Bruce) Megeney;  as well as several extended family members and close friends. He was a very private person and liked to keep to himself, but becoming a grandfather softened his rough edges. Dylan and Felicity were his pride and joy and he loved them beyond what his words could express.

Special thank you to Dr. Do, George Dumont Hospital; Dr. Julie Arsenault, and Dr. Eve St. Hilaire, George Dumont Oncology Clinic; Dr. Jenny Lim, Moncton City Hospital; Dr. Beatrice Milne, Sackville, Dr. Graeme Stewart and the Sackville Memorial Hospital Staff and nurses. The family would also like to thank Donna Landry for her care and support over the past three years.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506- 364-1300), in honoring David's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time.
