It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Joseph "Camille" Legere, age 74, of Port Elgin, NB. Camille passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

Born in Port Elgin, NB, he was a son of the late Rudolph and Lorraine (Fougere) Legere.

Camille was a "Jack of all Trades" working at a variety of jobs throughout his life. He was caring and supportive of family, friends and community. He served the Village of Port Elgin as Fire Chief for many years. Camille supported community groups including St. Clement’s Parish Cemetery, Pedvac and Port Elgin Regional School.

Camille often said that being a father and a bartender was the right preparation for the best job he ever had as a school bus driver. Loyal, trustworthy and safe - our kids were in good hands. He came home from work with wonderful stories about little ones and imaginative stories about older ones. He loved his job of 25 years.

Camille also loved to build, work in our yard, host family reunions, and travel. He was a cook and played the drums. He taught us all to drive. His laughter was infectious and could be heard in the garage, on a ship or at a dance. A beloved Dad, Gramps, friend, and husband of 50 years.

He will be dearly missed by his wife Jan Legere, 3 sons; Jacques, Fort McMurray, AB, Justin (Crystal), Head of Jeddore, NS; Serge (Sylvie), Portage, NB; 2 grandchildren, Riley and Ava; brothers, Roger (Mollie), Riverview, Jerry (Pat), Port Elgin, and sister Annette Carter, Cap-Pele, NB.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Murray, infant sister Mary, and brother in law Bruce Carter

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin and Sackville, NB (506-364-1300).  A time of public visitation will be held from the funeral home in Port Elgin on Sunday, September 10, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, Port Elgin, on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 11 am, Father Charles Broderick officiating.  Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.  All are invited back to the funeral home for a time of refreshment following the service.

Donations in memory of Camille may be made to PEDVAC.

Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the online memorial at www.jonesfuneralhome.ca or through the Jones Funeral Home Facebook Page.
