It is with sadness that we announce the death of George Herbert Fillmore, 92, of Port Elgin and formerly of Baie Verte, NB, at the Westford Nursing Home on Monday, January 9, 2023.  Born in Baie Verte, George was a son of the late Fred & Flora (Mercer) Fillmore.

George was a mechanic for 30 years with the NB Dept of Transportation and District 14 School Board.  He was a hunter, fisherman, played hockey and was a good storyteller.  George also worked at farming and forestry.  A high school graduate he held 3 mechanics licenses for motor mechanics, bus and truck mechanics and heavy equipment mechanics.

George will be sadly missed by his children, Shelley A E (Don) Fillmore-Thurber, Dartmouth, NS and Sherry A E Fillmore (Butch Slade), Kentville, NS, and grandson Grant RJ Thurber, Dartmouth, NS.  He is also survived by his brother, Stanley (Lois), his sisters, Flora (Douglas) Annand, Lois Metro, and Hedy (Toper) Fillmore, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Marilyn and his siblings, Freddie Fillmore, Baxter Fillmore, Elizabeth Rogers, Wilfred Fillmore, Joan Murray, Martha Hyslop, and Joy Vardy.

George's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin and Sackville, NB (506-364-1300).   A time of visitation will be held at their Port Elgin location on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 2pm until the time of the funeral service at 3pm.  Interment will take place in the Fernwood Cemetery in the spring.
