It is with great sadness that we
announce the passing of our wife and mother Barbara
Margaret (Chappell) Johnson, 82, of
Sackville. Barbara passed away peacefully at the Drew
Nursing Home on Thursday, December 22, 2022, where she had resided for
the past 7 years.
Barb leaves behind, her dedicated and
loving husband of 66 years, Ben Johnson of
Sackville; her sons, Boyd (Jeannette) of Moncton, Todd of
Sackville and Andrew of Moncton; four grandchildren, Marcus, Megan,
Shelby, and Steven, and two great grandchildren; her sister, Gail
(Eric) Estabrooks, as well as her brothers, Clifford "Kippy"
(Thelma) Chappell, and Robert Eagles, a sister-in-law, Viola Chappell,
many extended family members and several nieces and
nephews.
Besides her parents, Barbara was
predeceased by a daughter, Deborah in 1972, and a brother, Wayne
Chappell.
Barbara grew up in Dorchester and then
moved to Sackville where she worked at the Sackville Hospital, she
then went to work for Borden’s Restaurant, after leaving
there she moved on to The Drew Nursing Home, where she trained/worked
with a lot of the ladies that have been caring for her in her last
years. Barbara’s last employment was doing some
home care before she retired.
Barbara was a very hard worker, an
amazing cook and housekeeper. She enjoyed doing crafts,
camping, and she had a real green thumb for gardening,
especially when it came to her African Violet collection.
She also attended & spent a lot of time volunteering at St.
Anne’s Church.
A sincere thank-you to The Drew Nursing
Home and all the wonderful staff that cared for Barbara during the
past 7 years, in particular those who comforted us in her last few
days. You are ALL AMAZING.
