It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Brian Hanson Mitton, 81, of Shemogue, NB, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton.  Brian was born in Bayfield, a son of the late Job and Isabel (Trenholm) Mitton.

Brian enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as bar-clamming and spending time in the winter in his cabin on the ice on Shemogue Harbour fishing smelts.   He loved a good game of crib, gardening and going to the Cape Tormentine Legion for cards with friends.

He was a devoted and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.

He is survived by his wife Myrna Trenholm, Shemogue; children, Michael (Linda), Shemogue, Patti Campbell, ON, Theresa (Ernie) Boutilier, Cape Tormentine, Dale, Beaverbank, NS, Dennis, Sydney, NS; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two sisters, Kathleen Fillmore, Bayfield and Doreen (Gordon) Spence, Murray Corner.

Besides his parents, Brian was predeceased by his son Jeffrey as well as his daughter-in-law, Cathy and his brother-in-law, Leslie Fillmore.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at the Dr. George's L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton for their care and compassion during Brian's stay.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, Sackville and Port Elgin, NB (506-364-1300).  Honouring Brian's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 1:00pm at Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin location 3 W Main Street, Port Elgin, NB.

Donations in memory of Brian may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
