It is with great sadness that we announce the
passing of Frederick William Sterling
Jr., age 53, of Sackville, NB.
Fred passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday August
7, 2022 with his family by his side.
Born in Windsor, ON, he was a son of Oressa Sterling, and
the late Frederick Sterling Sr.
Fred graduated from Tantramar Regional High School
and went on to attend NBCC's cooking program in Moncton. He was previously employed with
Mount Allison University and SUBWAY in Sackville where he became known
as "SUBWAY Fred".
Fred enjoyed finding deals at yard sales, coin
collecting as well as other collectible items. In his younger years he loved
fishing and camping. Most
recently he took great joy in feeding the birds in the
yard.
Fred had a big heart, he was a caring and loving man
who was affectionately known by all his nieces and nephews as Uncle
Freddie.
Fred will be dearly missed by his mother, Oressa
Sterling, Sackville; his brother, Kirk (Mary) Sterling, Riverview; his
sisters, Sandy Fletcher, PEI, Brenda (Gerry) Landry Point de Bute, and
Wanda (Stevie) Sterling, Dorchester; his nieces and nephews, Sarah,
Nathan, Matthew, Megan, Amanda, Chase, and Tyler, as well as many
grand nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and dear
friends.
Besides his father in 1984, Fred was predeceased by
his step-father, Harold H. Trenholm in 2016; his maternal
grandparents, Gladys & Hibbert Chapman and paternal
grandparents, Marion and Harley Sterling.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of
Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street,
Sackville, NB (506-364-1300). A time of visitation will be
held at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, August 10,
2022. A
funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 2 pm
with interment to follow in the Westcock Cemetery.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart
& Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association, or the
Friends of the Moncton Hospital.
