It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick William Sterling Jr., age 53, of Sackville, NB.  Fred passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday August 7, 2022 with his family by his side.  Born in Windsor, ON, he was a son of Oressa Sterling, and the late Frederick Sterling Sr.

Fred graduated from Tantramar Regional High School and went on to attend NBCC's cooking program in Moncton.  He was previously employed with Mount Allison University and SUBWAY in Sackville where he became known as "SUBWAY Fred".

Fred enjoyed finding deals at yard sales, coin collecting as well as other collectible items.  In his younger years he loved fishing and camping.  Most recently he took great joy in feeding the birds in the yard.

Fred had a big heart, he was a caring and loving man who was affectionately known by all his nieces and nephews as Uncle Freddie.

Fred will be dearly missed by his mother, Oressa Sterling, Sackville; his brother, Kirk (Mary) Sterling, Riverview; his sisters, Sandy Fletcher, PEI, Brenda (Gerry) Landry Point de Bute, and Wanda (Stevie) Sterling, Dorchester; his nieces and nephews, Sarah, Nathan, Matthew, Megan, Amanda, Chase, and Tyler, as well as many grand nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends.

Besides his father in 1984, Fred was predeceased by his step-father, Harold H. Trenholm in 2016; his maternal grandparents, Gladys & Hibbert Chapman and paternal grandparents, Marion and Harley Sterling.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB (506-364-1300).  A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 2 pm with interment to follow in the Westcock Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association, or the Friends of the Moncton Hospital.
