It is with profound sadness that we
announce the sudden passing of Joel "Joey"
Leonard Durelle, 60, of Sackville, and formerly of
Moncton, at the Drew Nursing Home on Wednesday, June 29,
2022. Born to Leonard and Sandra (Arsenault) Durelle in
Summerside, PE, Joey was one of six children.
Joey was predeceased by his father,
Joseph Leonard "Ti Nom" Durelle. He will be dearly
missed by his mother, Sandra Ann Durelle and five brothers and
sisters, Roxanne (Ron), Brian, Janet (Peter), Ken (Lisa) and Kelley
(Jason), as well as his nieces and nephews, Nicole, Justin, Laura,
Bradley, Stefannie, Brandon, Nolan, Dylan, Nadia and Jayda and
numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Joey loved having visitors and loved
being outdoors whenever he could. He loved to listen
to country music and would especially grin from ear to ear
when he heard a song from George Jones, his Uncle John or Uncle Marc,
and would sing loudly along with them. He used to love to
play guitar and pick the banjo.
Joey's life was not an easy life, as he
fought a hard battle since the young age of 16, which later rendered
him to be dependent on others.
Joey was blessed to have kind and
dedicated care workers along his journey. A special thank
you to Albert, Stephen and Mary, we are forever grateful. He
so looked forward to his outings and loved hamburgers, pizza, and
coffee.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge
Street, Sackvillle, NB (506-364-1300). Cremation has taken
place. Joey will be laid to rest with his father in Hardwicke, NB,
following services to be announced at a later date.
For those who wish to do so, donations
in Joey's memory may be made to Open Sky Co-operative; Drew-Tantramar
Foundation Inc. or Camp Tidnish.
