Raymond "Ray" David Latham, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital after a hard year long battle with Glioblastoma on March 26, 2022. Ray was born in Truro, NS on May 1st, 1958 to Marjorie Latham (Fagan) and adoptive Father, James (Jim) Latham.
Ray had a love of cars, sports, movies and music since a young age. He loved his children and Granddaughter and taking them on special dinner dates. He loved to hop in the car and take his kids on road trip adventures with music like the Eagles and Annie Lennox blasting over the wind in his mustang. Their adventures usually ending at, Swiss Chalet, Ray's favorite restaurant. He loved going to concerts, sports games or watching them on TV. His favorite was when it was time for the Olympics.
After his diagnosis and prognosis, his goal was to make it to watch the summer Olympics. He fought so hard and not only did he watch the summer Olympics, but he also got to watch the winter Olympics this year as well. He fought hard for his life.
Ray is survived by his daughter Shannon Campbell (Matthew), his son, Mark Latham, his Granddaughter, Imagin Campbell and Aunts, Uncles and Cousins on both the Fagan and Latham side. Ray is pre-deceased by his mother, Marjorie Latham (Fagan), his adoptive Father James (Jim) Latham, along with his Grandparents and several Aunts and Uncles.
Ray's children would like to thank their Dad's doctors, Dr. Sarah Ironside, Ray's Neuro Oncologist who provided the utmost care and treatment for Ray and went above and beyond making sure he was well taken care of while in hospital. Her kindness and work will never be forgotten. To Dr. El Helou, Ray's Neuro surgeon who performed, not one but two surgeries to give Ray the best chance to fight. He provided family the time and attention needed to make the best decisions of care. Lastly, to everyone at the Moncton Hospital who showed kindness and support during the last 14 months. It means so much.
Ray's children, Shannon and Mark would like to thank everyone for their support and love during this time. Losing a parent and seeing them battle such an awful disease is devastating. Ray is now at rest and he will be dearly missed. To say their goodbye, his children have used the words and lyrics from one of his favorite artists...
"Lay down
Your sweet and weary head
The night is falling
You have come to journey's end
Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across the distant shore
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again"
- Annie Lennox
