It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Daniel Frederick Strang, age 82, of Malden, NB.  Danny passed away at the Countryside Residence in Port Elgin on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, surrounded by family.

Born at a very early age in Malden, NB, he was a son of the late John and Pauline (Sweeney) Strang.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Nancy (Newberry) Strang; sisters Betty Ann Cullinan and Maureen Barry, and brothers Raymond and Gary Strang.

He is survived by his children, Laura (John) Somerville, Slave Lake, AB, John (Anne-Charlotte), Montreal, PQ, Karen Allen, Kanata, ON; Tanya Kelly, Lansdowne, NB; and 7 grandchildren (Savanna and Kailey Somerville, Lindsay Strang, Keagan and Keira Strober, Brenna and Abby Kelly); siblings Elaine McInerney, Toronto, Kathleen (William) Mitchell, Peace River, AB, Joan Steele, Whitehorse, YK, Michael (Margaret) Strang, Edmonton, AB, and Russell (Joanne) Strang, Comox, BC.

Danny graduated with honours from St. Clements High School, Port Elgin, in 1956. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1957 and was trained as a Radar Tech Air in Clinton, Ontario. He was stationed in St. Hubert, PQ from 1958 to 1959. Danny served with NATO in Germany from 1959 to 1962 and came home to work with NORAD on the Dew Line. Danny was awarded the NATO medal for his military service. Danny was later employed as an electrician with Marine Atlantic in Cape Tormentine from 1976 until his retirement. He earned his Journeyman Industrial Electrician Inter Provincial Certificate in 1990.

Danny married his wife, Nancy, in 1970. Together they ran the Causeway Trailer Park campground for many years while raising their family. Danny was very involved with St. Bartholomew’s Catholic church, and a devoted member of the Legion. He loved his garden and was proud to be known by many as "Dan the Veggie Man." He loved nothing more than to stir the pot, laugh, sing and play guitar. In his last months he expressed frequent gratitude for the help, support and love of his wonderful friends, neighbours and family. He was well loved and admitted freely that he had lived a great life.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin and Sackville, NB (506-364-1300).  A public Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 11:30 am in the St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, Port Elgin.  Burial will take place in the St. Bartholomew's Cemetery in Malden, NB.

Following the committal service, there will be a reception for all at the East Botsford Recreation Centre.  Masks are required.

Donations can be made in his honour to the Cape Tormentine Legion, St. Bartholomew’s Cemetery, or the Countryside Special Care Home.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Crystal, Andy, and the wonderful staff at Countryside. They were so loving and kind and we will forever be grateful.
