John Edward 'Ted' Carroll of Miramichi, formerly of Melrose, NB passed away May 30th, 2021 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital.  He was born May 2nd, 1942 and raised in Melrose at his family home. He was the son of the late John and Kathleen (Hartnett) Carroll.

Ted is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 56 years, Joanne (Doucette).  Their love, and devotion created a cornerstone for their family.  He will be dearly missed by his children Liam & Kerry, Saskatoon, Shane & Tracey, Sackville, Chris & Sarah, Riverview, Melanie & Kevin, Miramichi, and Danielle & Jay, Melrose, his grandchildren Rebecca (Cole), Brendan, Shaelyn, Spencer, Alex, Justin, Taylor, Rory, Vanessa, Sara, Easton and Olivia, his great-grandchildren Parker and Conor.

He was predeceased by daughter, Stephanie, and infant brother, Francis.

Ted graduated with the first graduating class at University of Moncton with a Bachelor of Arts.  His first job was teaching grades 7, 8 & 9 for a year in Dorchester.  He enjoyed teaching but had found his true calling when he decided to take a full-time job with the provincial government as a Social Worker, where he continued to work for almost 33 years.  During that time, he worked in many different aspects of social work, everything from child protection to working with seniors.  He retired at 57 and embraced his retirement until his stroke 10 years later.

A heart filled with love, kindness, compassion, and joy that he shared with everyone he met.  He always had a smile, a laugh and maybe a joke or two.  He enjoyed all music, reading books upon books, all things Irish, John Prine and he was a loyal Leafs and Blue Jays fan. He treasured family, above anything else and welcomed everyone into our family with open arms. he was happiest when surrounded by them.  He supported and loved each one of us unconditionally, a love that will never be forgotten.  Since his stroke, he had to overcome more than any one man should ever have to.   He has shown his family the true meaning of strength, determination, and faith, all with a positivity that was amazing, all with Joanne by his side, they moved mountains.
