It is with heavy hearts that we announce
the passing of Gertrude Isabell Stright,
82, of Bayfield, NB on Sunday May 16, 2021 at the Moncton Hospital.
Gertrude was born in Cape Tormentine, a daughter of the late Ernest
and Pearl (MacGlashing) Smallwood.
Gertrude was a former manager at the
gift shop in the Cape Tormentine Ferry Terminal, and a member of the Bayfield United
Church. She
enjoyed going to the camp and attending the local dances. Gertrude was a kind soul with a
lot of strength and faith. She enjoyed a good game of cards, was an
avid knitter, and loved going to BINGO. Her greatest joy in life was
her husband, her children and her grandchildren
Gertrude will be dearly missed by her
husband of sixty-three years, Kermath Stright, Bayfield, NB; a son
Randy (Shannon), Bayfield, a daughter, Kimberley (Danny) Landry,
Moncton; two grandsons, Daniel & James, as well as her brother
Clifford (Darlene) Smallwood, Cape Tormentine, her brother-in-law,
Sheldon (Doreen) Stright and sister-in-law, Joyce (late Donald)
Clarke..
Besides her parents, she was predeceased
by her brother Edward and her sister-in-law, Pauline.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of Jones Funeral Home,
70 Bridge Street, Sackville
(506-364-1300). A time
of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 20,
2021 from 12:30 pm until the time of the funeral at 2 pm. Interment to follow in the
Bayfield Cemetery. Rev.
Catherine Smith presiding. Preregistration is required,
call or email the funeral home to do so. Please bring your masks and
respect social distancing guidelines. For those unable to attend, the
funeral will be streamed live to her obituary.
