It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Valerie Joseph Fagan, 96, of Port Elgin, NB. Val passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the Veteran's Health Centre, Moncton. Born in Port Elgin, NB, Val was a son of the late Frank and Stella (Donelle) Fagan.
Val was a devoted member of St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, Port Elgin.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Sackville Branch, for over 40 years followed by the Cape Tormentine Branch. A veteran of World War II he was a member of the Carleton York Regiment serving in Italy, Holland, Germany and England.
Val was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was so kind and loved by everyone. Val will be sadly missed
Val is survived by his wife Adrienne (Duguay), a daughter Elaine Dickson, Fredericton, 3 sons, Anthony "Tony" (Renita), Botsford-Portage, NB, Ronald "Ron", Dieppe, Reginald "Reg" (Tammy), Surrey, BC; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brothers, Tommy, Port Elgin, Raymond (Emmie), Amherst, NS; sisters, Marion (late George) Smith, AB, and Blanche Hawes, Halifax, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers; Frank, Gordon, Roger, and Rene, and sisters Armeline, Lenita, Mabel "Sandra", and Marjorie, as well as a brother and sister in infancy.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home. A time of public visitation will be held from the funeral home's Port Elgin location, 3 W. Main Street (506-364-1300) on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 2-4 pm. Due to Covid-19 restrictions and limited spacing, a private, by-invitation Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday. Father C. Broderick presiding. Please bring your masks and respect social distancing protocols. The funeral mass, will be recorded and available for viewing from the funeral home website.
At the family's request, no flowers please. Donations in memory of Val may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association; PEDVAC or a charity of the donor's choice.
