Due to COVID-19 Restrictions and concern for everyone's well being, the Visiting Hours and the Funeral Service for the Late Leo Poirier, has been postponed until restrictions ease and we are all comfortable to gather. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding with this decision.

----------

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Joseph Leo Poirier, age 81, of Sackville, NB.  Leo passed away on December 28, 2020 at the Westford Nursing Home with his family by his side.

Born in Herdman, Quebec, he was a son of the late Paul and Simonne (Pepin) Poirier.

Leo served in the RCAF and CAF from 1956 to 1985.  He joined the RCMP in 1985 and served as a member until his retirement in 1999.  He was stationed in Ottawa for several years before joining J. Division Shediac.  He was a member of the Sackville Curling Club, the Sackville Golf Club, and the Sackville Snow Drifters Club.  He was an avid bridge player and thoroughly enjoyed traveling with family and friends.  He specifically enjoyed his summers spent at the cottage, where he especially loved our family lobster dinners.

Leo will be dearly missed by his wife Frances Beale; her children Charlene (Late Stephen) Pauley, Richard (Sandra) Beale and Brett (Andrea) Beale, all of Sackville, NB; six grandchildren Lacey (Jacob) Fisher, Jason (Natalie) Pauley, Brittany Beale, Amanda Beale (Robert Claxton Oldfield), Brook and Abby Beale.  Along with five great grandchildren and his beloved dog Rusty.

In addition to his parents and his step-son in law Stephen, he was predeceased by his brothers Maurice, Jean Guy and sister Betty (Roland) Tatro.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Westford Nursing Home for their care and compassion.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300).  Visiting Hours and Funeral Service will be held at a later date when Covid-19 restrictions have eased and we are comfortable gathering.

Donations in memory of Leo may be made to the Sackville Memorial Hospital, or the charity of your choice.

Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting Leo's online memorial at www.jonesfuneralhome.ca or through the Jones Funeral Home Facebook Page.
