It is with great sadness that we
announce the death of Douglas Baxter
Jones, 82, of Port Elgin, NB at the Moncton Hospital on
Saturday, August 8, 2020. Born April 13, 1938 in Point de
Bute, NB, Doug was a son of the late Frank and Alfreda (Adey)
Jones.
Doug was a family man. He spent his life
surrounded by family and caring for his family. He worked in various
sawmills throughout the area for many years. Doug was a dedicated
worker and loved spending time in the woods as well as working with
old cars and engines. He enjoyed time hunting and anyone who knew him
knows that he was a lover of all animals. He was an active man who
loved to take a good swim and he treasured the Sunday afternoons
taking any family member he could get in the car for a drive to
unknown destinations.
Doug will be lovingly remembered by his
wife of sixty-two years, Dianne (nee Noonan), of Port Elgin; his
children, Michael (Debbie) Jones, Sackville, Larry (Marlene) Jones,
Port Elgin, Donna (Normand) Leblanc, Shemogue, Stephen (Arlene) Jones,
Port Elgin, Susan (Buddy) MacDiarmid, Napan NB, Ronnie (Susanne)
Jones, Port Elgin, Robert and Tony Jones, both of Port Elgin, and
Angela (Gary) Smith, New Glasgow, PE; many grandchildren and many
great grandchidren; his brother Aubrey (Elizabeth), Point de Bute, as
well as his extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, Doug was
predeceased by his sister, Marjorie Wells; his brother, Frank Jr., as
well as a brother in infancy.
The family wishes to extend their
heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Moncton
Hospital for their compassion and support during this
time

Jones Funeral
Home’s Port Elgin location, 3 West Main
Street (506-364-1300). A time of visitation will be held at the
funeral home on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 from 6-8 pm followed by a
graveside service at the St Clements Catholic Cemetery on Thursday,
August 13, 2020, at 2 pm. Please bring your mask and respect social
distancing protocols.
