It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Douglas Baxter Jones, 82, of Port Elgin, NB at the Moncton Hospital on Saturday, August 8, 2020.  Born April 13, 1938 in Point de Bute, NB, Doug was a son of the late Frank and Alfreda (Adey) Jones.

Doug was a family man. He spent his life surrounded by family and caring for his family. He worked in various sawmills throughout the area for many years. Doug was a dedicated worker and loved spending time in the woods as well as working with old cars and engines. He enjoyed time hunting and anyone who knew him knows that he was a lover of all animals. He was an active man who loved to take a good swim and he treasured the Sunday afternoons taking any family member he could get in the car for a drive to unknown destinations.

Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-two years, Dianne (nee Noonan), of Port Elgin; his children, Michael (Debbie) Jones, Sackville, Larry (Marlene) Jones, Port Elgin, Donna (Normand) Leblanc, Shemogue, Stephen (Arlene) Jones, Port Elgin, Susan (Buddy) MacDiarmid, Napan NB, Ronnie (Susanne) Jones, Port Elgin, Robert and Tony Jones, both of Port Elgin, and Angela (Gary) Smith, New Glasgow, PE; many grandchildren and many great grandchidren; his brother Aubrey (Elizabeth), Point de Bute, as well as his extended family and friends.

Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by his sister, Marjorie Wells; his brother, Frank Jr., as well as a brother in infancy.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Moncton Hospital for their compassion and support during this time

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home’s Port Elgin location, 3 West Main Street (506-364-1300).
