It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Margaret Doreen Trites, 86 of Sackville, New Brunswick  on Monday July 27, 2020.   

Margaret leaves behind her husband of  65 years, Richard "Dick " and four children, Dr. Todd (Dafna) Northridge, CA, Dr. Lary (Kathleen) Sackville, NB, Bonnie (Stephen) Beal, Waterloo, ON, and Dr. Brian (Donna) Fredericton NB; as well as nine grandchildren Robie, Alex, Josh, Julia, Hannah, Alexa, Emily, Aiden and Nicole. 

Born in Amherst Nova Scotia Margaret was the last surviving member of her immediate Furlong family, being predeceased by her parents Robie and Beulah, as well as three brothers Thomas, Rodger and Howard. 

Margaret also has four grand dogs, which loved being around her, Nanny will miss Lucky (Beagle), Claire (Golden Doodle), Dozer and Otis (Frenchbulldogs).

Margaret was always there when sports were being played to cheer on her children and grand children in basketball, hockey, running track or football. a very active parent and grandparent. Margaret always loved social gatherings ranging  from family or newly met neighbours her presence will be missed. 

Margaret was a member of the Sackville Curling Club, The Sackville Art Association, The Lewisville Baptist Church, and had been the Director of the Social Committee for the Gulfview Park in Florida.  She had been a speed skater, an avid basketball player, and cavassed for the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Sackville for many years.  Margaret had a wide range of employment starting as an NB telephone operator and a secretary with Chrysler Corporation, as well as at Mount Allison University. She raised four children then went back to work as a business assistant in the dental practice of Dr. Lary for many years. Margaret had spent many winters in Florida but her favorite time was with her family at the cottage in Amherst Shore.   

Margaret has touched many hearts with her art work ranging from Van Gogh reproductions to wildlife scenes.

Margaret had the spirit of an angel.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300).  A time of public visitation for Margaret will be held at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.  Please wear your masks and respect social distancing measures.  A private graveside service will be held at the Lakeville Cemetery at a later date.  Pastor Gordon MacLeod presiding.
