It is with deep sadness we announce the
passing of Edwin J. Melanson, age 94, of
Sackville.
Edwin passed away peacefully at the Sackville Memorial
Hospital on Saturday July 18, 2020.
Born in St. Andre, NB, he was a son of
the late Oliver and Edna (Babineau) Melanson.
Edwin worked for J. W. Black Lumber for
12 years then with the Department of Transportation for 28
years. He was a
member of St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church. He was involved in CNIB for 10
years, Sackville Minor Hockey & Baseball, where he was a
founder, the Lions Club and the Legion.
He will be dearly missed by son Dennis,
Sackville, 1 daughter Jeanette Broadbent, Sherbrooke, PQ, 8
grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren;
brothers; Laurie, Sackville, Harvey, Oshawa, ON, Amos, Sackville,
Gerry, Sackville, Acquilla, Riverview, Valerie, Port Elgin; sister;
Loretta Beal, Midgic, NB; daughter in law Debbie Melanson, Sackville,
NB.
He was predeceased by his wife Helen
(Polley) Melanson, son Emery, and by 1 infant sister; brothers Leo;
sister Doris (Emile) Richard; sister in law Nora Melanson; brother in
law Harry Beal.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the
Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St.,
Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) where public visiting hours will be open
to all on Wednesday, July 22 from 6 to 8 pm. A private family funeral
service will be held from Jones Funeral Home on Thursday, July 23,
Father Phil Mulligan officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy
Rosary Cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorial
contributions may be made to St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church, the
Sackville Minor Hockey Association, or CNIB.
