It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nellie Etheline Johnson, 97, of Sackville, at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.  Nellie was born in Sackville, a daughter of the late Bert and Ethel (Ward) Doherty.

Nellie was an avid golfer and was honoured with a mention on the Sackville Sports Wall Of Fame; she was also a member of the Tantramar Twirlers and the Sackville Seniors Club.  She was deeply devoted to her family.

She will be sadly missed by her three sons, Stanley (Sandra), Sackville, Allan (Doreen), Sackville, Henry Jr., Kelowna, BC; two daughters,  Dianna Hunter (Douglas), Stoney Creek, ON, Betty Sprague (Leslie), Dartmouth, NS, many grandchildren,  great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a sister, Francis Card, Cape Cod, MA, as well as a sister-in-law, Delores Doherty, Sterling, MA.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Henry Johnson, her sisters, Eva Estabrooks, Madeline Crossman, and Georgina Doherty, as well as four brothers, Donnie, Reggie, Leslie and Leaman Doherty.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300).   In keeping with Provincial restrictions, a by-invitation, family only service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at 2 pm. Pastor Andrew Swanson presiding.  

The service will be live streamed and available during and after the service by visiting her obituary on the Jones Funeral Home website. 

Following the service, Nellie will be laid to rest alongside her husband in the Sackville Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Nellie may be made to the Main Street Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
