Peacefully at home, Robert Alfred Milton, age 82, of Sackville, passed away on January 7, 2005.

Born in Sackville, NB, he was a son of the late Alfred and Winifred (Babcock) Milton.In World War II he served with an armoured regiment, the Princess Louise 8th Hussars, in Britain and Continental Europe. Following this, he spent a long business career with Atlantic Wholesalers Ltd., the last several years as Senior Vice President. He also served as Director and Past President of the Canadian Grocery Distributors Institute.

Bob had a great interest in the well being of the local hospital and spent many years as a Director of the Sackville Memorial Hospital Board and Chairman of the Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation. He was also a member of the Board of Regents of Mount Allison University and a long time member and Past President of the Sackville Rotary Club. He was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years Anna (Bulmer); daughters Lorna (Philip Oulton, Daniel and Colin) and Janice (Peter Thomson, Sarah and Michael), all of Bible Hill, NS, his sister Mildred (Ronald) Lindsay, Moncton, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Victor, Maurice, Charles and Malcolm, and sister Muriel.

Visitation will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) on Monday from 7 to 9 pm.

A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at 11 am from the funeral home, Rev. Dr. Jamie Gripton officiating. Burial will take place in the Sackville Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
