It is with deep sadness that we must
announce the peaceful passing of Dana Lee
Holmes, age 60, of Dorchester. Dana passed on
Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital,
Moncton.
Born in Saint John, NB, he was a son of
the late Mary Ellen (Holmes) Hicks.
Very active in his community, Dana was a
former member of the Dorchester Fire Department and the Dorchester
Lions Club. He served in the 8th Canadian Hussars C Squadron
from 1969 to 1977. Dana worked for Terry Wood for 17 years,
then the Town of Sackville and finally with Beale and Inch.
He was an avid fisherman, and loved bringing home his catch for his
family.
He will be dearly missed by his beloved
wife Darlene Holmes, Dorchester; children Jason (Chelsey Cyr), Michael
(Amanda Stuber), Miranda (Dustin Hurley) Dawson, Charles (Ness Crosby)
Dawson, and Alan Dawson all of Dorchester; grandchildren Samantha
Landry, Jessica Holmes, Madison Holmes, Sierra Holmes, Abigail Holmes,
Lukas Hurley, Alexandra Holmes, Kacie Hurley and Eli Dawson;
brother John (Deborah) Hicks, Edmonton, AB; cousin Kenny
(Pat Brown) Holmes, Sackville; step-parents, Ronald (Nancy Stymiest)
Chase, Upper Sackville and John (Anita) Hicks, Upper Sackville; as
well as several other family members.
He was predeceased by his maternal
grandparents John and Viola (Phinney) Holmes, a sister at birth,
Audrey Joan Hicks; uncles Laurie, Douglas ("Gandy"), Johny,
Parker, and Aunts Gloria, Allie and Audrey.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) where
visiting hours will take place on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
pm. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 19,
2015 at 2 pm, Pastor Vernon Vickruck officiating. Burial
will take place in St. Edward's Parish Cemetery, Dorchester followed
by a light lunch at the Veteran's Memorial Hall,
Dorchester.
