The death of David Guy Long, 67,
of Sackville occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Tuesday,
March 17, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Born in Sackville, David was a
son of Edith (Govang) and the Late Gerald Long.
David was a truck driver for Day & Ross for thirty years,
having received an award in recognition of 3,000,000 accident free
miles. He was a member of the Princess Louise 8th Huzars in
his youth. When he had spare time he enjoyed taking his car,
'Nut-n Fancy' to the race track for drag races and attending tractor
pulls and antique car shows. He was an avid fisherman and
was looking forward to heading to Labrador this Spring.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 45 years,
Margaret 'Peggy' (Allen); two daughters, Christa (Paul)
Gallant, Airdrie, AB and Susan (special friend Tony Belliveau) Long,
Riverview; five grandchildren, Mariah and Zachary Blue, Jessalyn
Gallant, Malcolm and Nicholas Grant; his mother, Edith Long,
Sackville; sisters, Gail (Sid) Baker and Jane (special friend Maurice
Theriault) Slipp and brothers Bill (Diane) and Robert (Claudette), all
of Sackville; ex-sons-in-law, Scott Grant and Greg Blue; a special
aunt, Evelyn Jonah, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Gerald.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones
Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300) from where a time
of visitation will be held from 7-9 pm on Thursday, March 19,
2015. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 pm from
the funeral home with a reception to follow. Pastor Danny
Jack officiating.

may be made to the Sackville Extra Mural, Canadian Diabetes
Association, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
