It is with deep sadness that we must
announce the peaceful passing of Harley Fletcher Estabrooks at the age
of 95. Harley passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the
Drew Nursing Home.
Born in Midgic, NB, he was a son of the
late Mace and Evelyn Estabrooks.
Harley was a veteran of WW II, serving
in the Canadian Army with the Princess Louise's Fusiliers, serving in
England, Africa and Italy. He was a former Boy Scout leader
whose kind and gentle demeanor earned him the respect of hundreds of
young boys in the Sackville area. He was also a member of the
Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion
He will be sadly missed by his brothers
George (Barbara), Barrie, ON, and Ansel, Sackville and sister Betty
(Ellsworth) Patterson, Sackville. He will also be deeply
missed by Butch and Bonnie and several other nieces and nephews, as
well as step-son Douglas (Sandra) Fillmore, Moncton, NB; several
step-grand and step-great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his loving wife,
the former Jean Mitton, sister Edith Hicks, and Gloria Cole; step-son
Donald Fillmore.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) where
visiting hours will take place on Monday evening from 7 to 9 pm along
with a Legion Memorial Service at 7 pm. Harley's funeral
service will take place at Jones Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 10,
2015 at 2 pm, Pastor Hal Lowther officiating. Burial will
take place in the Sackville Cemetery in the spring.
