Surrounded by her loving family, Edna Jean
Phinney, 67, of Sackville, passed away at the Sackville
Memorial Hospital on December 28, 2014 after a period of
illness. Born in Sackville, Edna was a daughter of the late
Edgar and Lorena (Hicks) Lewis.
Edna had
committed over thirty years to her position at Mount Allison
University. In her free time she was an avid hunter and
fisherman and particularly enjoyed the local yard sales. She
endured a long battle with cancer through which her strong willed
personality shined through. She will be missed by everyone
who knew and loved her
Edna will be
sadly missed by her husband of 49 years, Keith Phinney, of Sackville;
two sons, Keith Edgar (Jackie) of Riverglade, NB, and Myles Cody of
Sackville; a daughter, Connie Phinney of Moncton; grandchildren, Kurt
and Lawson Phinney; sisters, Diana Milner of British Settlement, Donna
(Fred) Smith of Wood Point, and Loretta (Don) Weir, of Sackville; a
brother, Aubrey Lewis of Westcock; many nieces and nephews and several
half-brothers and sisters.
Besides her parents,
she was predeceased by her sister, Janice Smith.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral
Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300) from where a funeral
service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 2 pm.
Interment to follow in the Sackville Cemetery. Pastor Vernon
Vickruck officiating.
In memory of Edna, the
family has requested donations be made to the Sackville Memorial
Hospital Foundation.
