With great sadness, we announce the death of
Matthew Edward Richard, age 33, at the
Sackville Memorial Hospital with his loving parents and Aunt Norma by
his side. Matthew passed away on Tuesday, September 30,
2014, after a brief illness. Born in Hamilton, ON, on
January 24, 1981, he was a son of Robert and Edna (Bourque) Richard of
Sackville, New Brunswick.
Matthew was a special
child from birth and lived under the care of his parents for 23
years. In the past ten years he lived at the Drew Nursing
Home in Sackville. His kindness and smile would melt the
hearts of everyone who met him. He had a particular interest
in listening to music and especially country and western. He
enjoyed watching the Treehouse channel on his television.
He will be sadly missed by his parents, Edna and
Robert Richard, Sackville; a sister Yvette (John) Militello, Niagara
Falls, NY; niece and nephews Camilla and Roman Militello, Niagara
Falls, NY, and Kirk Richard-Westhaver, Hamilton, ON; paternal
grandparents, Edward Richard, Sackville, and Doris MacDonald, of
Oshawa, ON, as well as several aunts and uncles and many
cousins.
Matthew was predeceased by his
maternal grandparents, Delia and Leo Burke, of Sackville, NB and a
step-grandfather, John MacDonald, of Oshawa, ON.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral
Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300) from where a time of
visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9
pm and on Friday from 10 am until departure. A funeral
service will be held at St. Vincent Roman Catholic Church, Charlotte
Street, Sackville, on Friday at 11 am with a burial in the parish
cemetery. Father Allison Carroll presiding.
The family would like to extend their deepest
appreciation and thanks to the staff of the Drew Nursing Home for
their kindness and wonderful care these past ten years and to the
staff of the Sackville Memorial Hospital for their excellent care and
compassion.
