Ailene M. Sheppard (nee Jackson), age 90, passed away
peacefully on Sunday, July 27th, 2014, at the
Drew Residence after a courageous battle with breast
cancer.
Born in Toronto Otario May 16th, 1924,
she was the only child of Grace A. (Avery) Jackson and Milton
Jackson.
Ailene worked for the war effort during 1943-45 and married
Clarke E. Sheppard in Dec. 1944. She was the loving mother of 5
children from 1946 on. The Sheppards moved to Sackville in 1978. She
worked as an operator in Sears Telephone Order Offices in Ontario and
New Brunswick for many years and volunteered with the I.O.D.E., the
Royal Canadian Air Cadets and the Sackville Memorial Hospital
Auxiliary, both with the coffee cart and the gift shop. She lovingly
cared for her flowerbeds, bird and hummingbird feeders.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter Dawn Sheppard
(Larry McIntosh), Belle River ON; sons Ed (Teresa), Port Hope ON; Neil
(Allyson), Etobicoke ON; Norman (Cecilia), Sackville; and Graham
(Sandra), Sackville, her best friend Muriel Briggs, Sackville; 16
grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Clarke in
2011.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral
Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300) where a private family
ceremony will take place followed immediately by burial in the
Sackville Cemetery. Donations in memory of Ailene may be made to The
Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, The Breast Cancer Foundation of
Canada, The Drew Residence or a charity of choice.
