It is with deep sadness that we regret to announce the
passing of a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother,
sister and friend, Lorena (Hicks) Lewis, widow of Edgar
Lewis. Lorena passed away at the age of 88 in the Drew
Nursing Home, Sackville while surrounded by her devoted family.
Born in Sackville, she was a daughter of the late
Gaius and Rena Jane Hicks.
Lorena was formerly
employed with Mount Allison University. She was a devoted
wife and mother who always placed her family ahead of
herself. She enjoyed bowling, music and spending time with
her family.
Lorena will be sadly
missed by 10 daughters, Edna (Keith) Phinney, Diana Milner (Hanford
Ibbitson), Donna (Fred) Smith, Debbie Lewis (Robert Tower), Olive
Lewis, Cathy (Malcolm) Estabrooks, Loretta (Don) Weir, Charlene
(Kevin) Wells and Nancy Landry (Kevin Scott) all of Sackville and
Susan (Jim) Watson, Riverview; one son, Aubrey Lewis (Charlotte
Bulmer), Sackville; 19 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren;
brother, Donald (Lorraine) Hicks, Sackville; 2 sisters, Dora Snowdon
and Flora (Elmer) Mitton, both of Sackville. She was
predeceased by a daughter, Janice Smith in 1999, her husband Edgar in
1988, a daughter-in-law, Linda, brothers Alex, Denver, Thorald and
Robert, and sisters, Olive Patterson, Jean Stone and Connie in
infancy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB where her funeral
service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 2 pm, Rev. Vernon
Vickruck officiating. Burial will take place in the Westcock
Cemetery at a later date.
The family wishes to
thank the staff at the Drew Nursing Home for their wonderful
care.
