It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of our mother,
Gertrude Minnie Greene, age 88, who went to be with her Lord on March
13, 2014 at her residence in Lower Coverdale, NB.
Born on April 6, 1925 in Sackville, NB, she was the eldest
daughter of the late Hilyard and Norma (Campbell) Crossman.
She is survived by her children, David (Angella)
Greene of Riverview, NB; Seth (Robyn) Greene of Petitcodiac, NB; Ruth
(Gerry) Caissie of Lower Coverdale, NB and Philip (Margo) Greene of
Riverview, NB and grandchildren Alicia (Lauri) Ketola, Samantha,
Chelsea; Hannah, Ashley, Sarah, Katie and Douglas. Sisters, Gladys
MacKinnon of Sackville NB and Leona (Hubert) Smith of Moncton, NB.
Also by sister-in-laws Gwen Crossman, Marian Crossman both of
Sackville, NB and Pearl Crossman Of Riverview, NB as well as many
nieces and nephews.
Gertrude was predeceased by
her husband Glendon in 1998, eldest granddaughter Alanna in 2012,
brothers; Hilyard (Bud), Rouel; David and sisters Mary Lousie Proctor,
Barbara Jones and Judith Chambers.
A resident
of Riverview for many years, she retired from the Times-Transcript in
1983. She was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church and a past
member of Highfield Baptist Church, as well as a Life Member of the
WMS. An avid reader with a love for travel, she especially enjoyed her
trips to England, Trinidad, Tobago, Venezuela, California,
Newfoundland as well as her many camping trips. Her grandchildren were
her greatest joy and they fondly remember her wonderful stories about
her youth. The family is thankful for the exceptional care provided to
Gertrude by her daughter Ruth.
She is resting
at Jones Funeral Home (506-364-1300), 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB.
with visiting on Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 10:00 AM until the time
of the funeral at 2:00 PM. Reverend Greg Jones officiating. Reception
to follow service. Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate
