Gwendolyn P. Payne
1919-2010
"All that truly matters in the end is that you are loved."
Gwendolyn P. Payne passed
away in Baie Verte, NB, on Thursday afternoon, March 11, 2010, at the
home of her daughter and son-in-law. Born in Cape
Tormentine, she was the daughter of the late Almer Allen and Martha
(Snook) Allen.
A stay-at-home mom, she made the
best milk rolls ever. We loved to hear her play the piano,
and there was always great laughter as we tried to keep up with her as
she step-danced across the kitchen floor.
While
her children were school students, she was very active in the local
Home and School Association and, for a number of years, served as
President. An avid bowler, Gwen truly enjoyed being part of
the league at the Wetmorland-Botsford Recreation Centre in Murray
Corner.
Gwen is survived by Martha Ellen
(David) Wry of Moncton, Susan (Terry) Wood of Baie Verte, Christopher
(Paula) Payne of Charlottetown, and Mark (Cindy) Payne of Sackville;
by six precious grandchildren and seven very entertaining
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her
parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William; a daughter,
Valerie; an infant son, Billy; and her sister, Kathleen York.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral
Home, Port Elgin. In accordance with her wishes, cremation
has taken place and there will be no visitation or services.
Special thanks to Dr. Thomas and to Sackville
Extra-Mural for their dedication to Mom's care. You folks
are amazing and very much appreciated by the whole family.
