Raymond P. Bristol Sr.
The death of Raymond Bristol Sr., age 90, of Amherst, occurred at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Michael and Emma (Cormier) Bristol.

Ray was a lifetime Ham Radio Operator, being a long time member in good standing with the Westcum Amateur Radio Club. His key, long identified with the call sign "VE1 TEE" has now gone silent. He was a member of the Holy Family Parish, Amherst. During his lifetime, Ray worked as a house painter and truck driver with D A Casey Ltd. A musician, he loved to play his guitar.

Raymond will be long remembered and sadly missed by his daughters, Elizabeth (Betty), Amherst and Linda (Joe) of Pictou; sons, Robert (Doris), Trenton, Ralph, Toronto, Gary (Susan), Bridgewater, Richard (Carol), Amherst and Raymond Jr. (Sharon), Amherst; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife the former Catherine Meade, sons, Michael and Clarence; a great grandchild, Andrew; sisters, Edna, Mary and Annie;brothers, Clarence, Henry, Johnny, George, Bobby and Cecil.

Raymond's remains have been cremated under the direction of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (667-8777), there will be no visitation or memorial service. A family graveside service will be held in the St. Charles - Nativity Cemetery in the spring. Donations to the Kidney Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice gratefully appreciated.
