Wanda M. Halfkenny
1954-2008
The death of Wanda M. Halfkenny, age 53, of Joggins, occurred suddenly
on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care
Centre.
Born in River Hebert, she was a daughter of Harold and Elizabeth (Bourgeois) McLellan of Joggins.
Wanda was very active in her community and devoted a lot of time heading up benefits for those in need over the years. She loved Bingo, Soap Operas and talking with her wide circle of friends and family on the phone. Wanda was very family oriented, a dedicated wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She always placed everyone else before herself. A great housekeeper, her house was always immaculate, and her baking kept everyone fed and happy.
In addition to her parents, she will be deeply missed by her husband Roy, Joggins; 3 sons, Wayne (Sharman) McLellan, Brookfield, NS, Rodney (Sonja) Mills, Joggins, Gary (Sharon), Edmonton, AB; 9 grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler, Hayley, Jasmin, Starr, Ryan, Claire, Emily, and Andrew; 2 brothers, Reg (Nancy), Joggins, Mike (Amanda), Joggins; 3 sisters, Brenda (Fred) Henwood, Oxford, Cheryl (Stephen) Mawdsley, Joggins, Bonnie (Mike) Eagles, Joggins; 12 nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the River Hebert and Joggins Community Funeral Home, River Hebert, (902-251-2827) where visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 7 to 9 pm and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at the Trinity United Church, Joggins on Monday, May 19, 2008 at 2 pm, Rev. Clarence Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Ragged Reef Cemetery.
