The death of Wesley "Wes" Wood, age 89 of Point de Bute, occurred at the Moncton City Hospital on Sunday, February 25, 2007, following a lengthy illness.

Born in West Devon, PEI, he was a son of the late Charles and Elsie (Rayner) Wood.A lumberman and farmer, he worked with Dexter Construction for many years as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Amherst. Wes loved to work and continued to operate heavy equipment and took up farming, after retirement.

Wes will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Daisy MacLean, Point de Bute; sons, Leslie (Gloria), Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC and Donald (Kathy Elliott), Point de Bute; a daughter, April, Point de Bute; grandchildren, Terri-Anne Newell, Dale, Sean, Keith, Krystal, Christopher, Holly Wood and Jamie and Travis Elliott; and by several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Charles in 1979, a daughter -in -law, Linda in 1999 and by a sister Evelyn Zivny.

The remains have been entrusted into the care of Jones Funeral Home. (506-364-1300) (902-667-8777). "Wes's" family will receive friends at the Furlong-Jones Funeral Chapel, 66 Church Street, Amherst on Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Furlong Jones Chapel, Amherst on Wednesday , February 28, 2007 at 2 pm, President Dr. Martin MacLennan, (Amherst Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) officiating. Burial in the Pointe de Bute Cemetery in the spring.
