It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Colin Archie McCabe, 88, of Sackville, NB, who passed away at the Drew Nursing Home on Saturday, January 25, 2020.  Born in Springhill Junction, NS, Colin was a son of the late Archie and Verna (Storey) McCabe.

Colin had been a graduate of UNB, B.A. B.eD, and a Beaverbrook Scholar to the University of London. 

For 35 years he taught school in Sackville, Port Elgin, Petitcodiac, St. George and Fredericton Jct.  An accomplished watercolourist, he was the treasurer of the Art Association for many years.  He was a master runner since 1979, having run numerous marathons and short races.

He was an active volunteer in the community, having coached soccer at the high school level, and was a dedicated and devoted supporter of provincial politics.

He is survived by his two daughters, Katherine, Dorchester and Clare (Frank Brab) McCabe, Banff, AB and a son Michael, Sackville, as well as two grandchildren, Kyle and Erik.

Besides his parents, Colin was predeceased by his wife of fifty-nine years, Anne; a granddaughter, Erin, as well as a sister, Carolyn, and a brother, Stanton

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300).  Honouring Colin's wishes, cremation has taken place.  A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 2-4 pm.  Interment will take place in the Sackville Cemetery in the spring.

Donations in memory of Colin may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
